Laboratory Investment Promotes Thermal Fluid System Efficiency

Thermal Fluid Solutions has invested in new industry-leading laboratory equipment, further enhancing its ability to meet growing customer demand for chemical analysis of the highest accuracy, enabling firms to ensure that their thermal fluid systems operate with optimum safety and efficiency.

Our latest state-of-the-art equipment for the determination of total acid number (TAN) and water content of thermal oil samples demonstrates our on-going commitment to develop our in-house testing and analysis expertise.

An increase in an oil’s acid number may be an indication of systemic issues in a thermal fluid system which, if left unchecked, may result in a reduction in system efficiency.

Water will impede an oil’s heat-transfer properties and so also the efficiency of the system. It can cause cavitation which ultimately results in mechanical damage to critical components such as pumps, and potentially more serious issues through fluid escapes.

As such, it is crucial that thermal fluids are regularly tested for total acid number and water content in order to enable swift restorative action.

TFS is one of the few companies within the industry to have its own in-house laboratory, and we will continue to invest in the best new equipment as part of our ongoing drive to ensure that we are able to provide customers with the best thermal fluid system support and maintenance services.

Continuous thermal fluid risk assessment and management is necessary to enable the safe and efficient operation of thermal fluid systems as well as legislative compliance.  In addition to testing for acidity and water content, TFS’ laboratory also tests for a range of other fluid parameters, including flashpoints, carbon content and viscosity.
